Yfood: complete liquid meals for busy days

Yfood is a German startup founded in 2017 in Munich, specialising in meal replacements — complete meals in drink form. The concept: a single 500ml shake = a complete balanced meal (500 kcal), with no cooking, preparation or even reheating. Yfood quickly won over the European market thanks to a positioning between absolute convenience and serious nutrition: 26 vitamins and minerals, a formulation validated by nutritionists. Since July 2026, the brand is 100% owned by Nestlé.

Nestlé now owns 100% of Yfood: what it means in 2026

On 3 June 2026, Nestlé announced it had acquired the remaining 51% of Yfood Labs GmbH from founders Ben Kremer and Noël Bollmann, taking full ownership after buying a 49% minority stake in 2023. Yfood generated around €150 million in 2025 sales (double-digit year-on-year growth) and is now sold in 30 countries. Day-to-day leadership passes to Jolanda Schwirtz as the founders step down. Nestlé says the deal will accelerate Yfood's expansion beyond Europe. No changes have been announced so far to the referral programme or pricing.

Yfood nutritional composition: 500 kcal and 26 vitamins and minerals

Each Yfood bottle (500ml) provides 500 kcal, formulated as a complete balanced meal (values for the Chocolate flavour):

  • Protein: up to 30g depending on flavour (lactose-free milk, or pea protein in the Vegan range)
  • Carbohydrates: about 37g, low glycaemic index, no added sugar
  • Fat: about 24g, including sunflower and rapeseed oil
  • Fibre: about 9.2g for satiety and digestion
  • 26 vitamins and minerals: vitamin D, B12, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc… (25% of daily needs per bottle)

Since early 2026, Yfood has removed the Nutri-Score from its packaging: the revised scoring system now classifies meal-in-a-drink products as "drinks" rather than "meals", which would have dropped the brand from an A to an E despite an unchanged nutritional profile. Yfood chose to drop the label rather than display a score it considers unrepresentative of its "meal" positioning.

Yfood flavours: Classic and Vegan ranges, from chocolate to hazelnut

Yfood now offers a wide range split across several lines:

  • Classic (dairy-based): Choco, Vanilla, Coffee, Happy Banana, Fresh Berry, Crazy Coconut, Heavenly Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, Funky Peanut, Fudge Brownie…
  • Vegan (pea protein): Vegan Choco, Vegan Vanilla, Vegan Banana, Vegan Berry, Vegan Coffee
  • Fruity: Mango, Peach, Cherry, Strawberry, Collection

All flavours are available as Ready-to-Drink bottles (500ml) and powder. Since 2024, Yfood has also expanded its "Smart Food" range with bars, alongside drinks and powders.

Yfood Ready to Drink vs Yfood Powder: what's the difference?

Yfood offers two formats:

Ready to Drink (RTD):

  • 500ml bottles ready to consume
  • No preparation needed
  • Long-life storage (UHT) without refrigeration
  • More expensive per unit but the ultimate convenience

Yfood Powder:

  • Sachets to mix with water or milk
  • Cheaper per unit
  • Customisable (amount of liquid, texture)
  • Requires a shaker or blender

Both formats have the same nutritional composition. RTD is favoured for travel, powder for home.

Who is Yfood for? Typical user profiles

Yfood is aimed at several profiles:

  • Busy professionals: no time to cook or find a healthy lunch
  • Travellers and nomads: a practical meal on the go, on a train or plane
  • Athletes: high protein intake for recovery
  • People controlling their diet: precise, managed calorie intake
  • Students: a quick, affordable and nutritious meal between classes

Yfood is not recommended as a substitute for 100% of meals long-term, but as a practical complement for meals that are hard to plan.

Yfood and satiety: does it really keep you going to the next meal?

The Yfood formulation includes fibre (about 9g per bottle) and protein (up to 30g depending on flavour) to maximise satiety after consumption. Users generally report 3 to 5 hours of satiety after a Yfood, comparable to an average solid meal. The creamy texture (enriched UHT milk) contributes to the feeling of fullness. Some users complete their Yfood with a piece of fruit or a coffee to extend satiety further. Studies on meal replacements show satiety similar to solid meals of the same calorie intake.

Yfood subscription: regular delivery and a flat 15% off

Yfood's subscription gives a flat 15% discount on every delivery (not a "10-15%" range — the discount is the same regardless of frequency). Example on a 6-bottle Classic Choco pack: €23.94 one-off vs €20.35 on subscription, i.e. €3.39 per meal instead of €3.99. Delivery frequency is customisable (every 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks), with no minimum commitment, and you can change flavours, pause or cancel anytime from your account.

Yfood and meal-replacement alternatives: Huel, Feed.

Yfood operates in the meal-replacement category, alongside players like Huel (UK), Feed. (France) or Queal (Netherlands). Some differences:

  • Yfood: ready-to-drink format, a texture close to a milkshake, indulgent flavours
  • Huel: more sport- and performance-oriented, powder and bar formats
  • Feed.: a French brand with solid and liquid products, strong in France

Yfood is often praised for taste (compared to a pleasant milkshake) and the convenience of the RTD format, even if the price per meal is slightly higher than powder.

Yfood delivery in France: times and packaging

Yfood delivers to mainland France from its European warehouse, generally in 3 to 5 business days. The RTD bottles don't need refrigeration during transport (UHT, shelf-stable for up to 12 months). The packaging is compact and optimised for transport. Delivery is free above a certain amount (check the current conditions on yfood.eu). For recurring subscription orders, free delivery is often included.

Yfood reviews: nutrition and convenience praised

Yfood users particularly appreciate the nutritional quality (500 kcal, 26 vitamins & minerals), the pleasant taste (close to a milkshake), and the ultimate convenience of the RTD format. The Chocolate flavour is regularly cited as the best liquid meal on the market. Some criticisms focus on the price (around €3.99-4 per bottle outside a subscription) and the liquid nature (some prefer to "chew" their meal). For a structured eating programme followed by professionals, Weight Watchers offers complete support with an app and coaching.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use a Yfood promo code?

Go to yfood.eu, compose your order (bottle packs or powders), then enter your code in the "discount code" field at checkout. Codes come from new orders, the newsletter or partner sites, and discovery packs let you try flavours before subscribing.

Is Yfood a complete meal?

Yes — one 500ml bottle provides 500 kcal, 20-30g protein, ~37g carbs, ~24g fat (incl. omega-3) and 5-9g fibre, plus 26 vitamins and minerals. It's designed as a balanced complete meal, validated by nutritionists. Since early 2026 Yfood no longer displays a Nutri-Score: the revised scale classifies liquid meals as "drinks", which would have dropped the brand from A to E despite an unchanged recipe.

What's the difference between Yfood RTD and powder?

Ready to Drink (RTD) bottles are shelf-stable, need no preparation and are ultra-convenient but pricier per unit. The powder is cheaper, customisable (liquid amount, texture) and needs a shaker. Both have the same nutrition — RTD for travel, powder for home.

How long does Yfood keep you full?

Thanks to up to 30g protein and about 9g fibre per bottle, users report about 3-5 hours of satiety, comparable to an average solid meal. The creamy UHT-milk texture helps; some add a fruit or coffee to extend it further.

Who is Yfood best for?

Busy professionals, travellers, athletes (recovery protein), people managing precise calorie intake, and students wanting a quick, affordable, nutritious meal. It's best as a practical complement rather than a substitute for 100% of meals long-term.

Does Yfood have a subscription?

Yes, the Yfood subscription gives a flat 15% discount on every delivery (same rate regardless of frequency), with no minimum commitment. Deliveries run every 2, 4, 6 or 8 weeks, and you can change flavours, pause or cancel anytime from your account.

What flavours does Yfood offer?

Yfood offers three flavour families: the dairy-based Classic range (Choco, Vanilla, Coffee, Happy Banana, Fresh Berry, Crazy Coconut, Heavenly Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, Funky Peanut, Fudge Brownie…), the pea-protein Vegan range (Vegan Choco, Vanilla, Banana, Berry, Coffee) and the Fruity range (Mango, Peach, Cherry, Strawberry, Collection). All are available as Ready-to-Drink bottles and powder, with the same nutritional profile.

How long does Yfood delivery take?

Delivery to mainland France takes 3-5 business days from a European warehouse, free above a certain amount. RTD bottles are UHT and shelf-stable up to 12 months, needing no refrigeration in transit; subscriptions often include free delivery.

Does Yfood still have a Nutri-Score?

No. Since early 2026, Yfood has removed the Nutri-Score from its packaging. The revised scoring system now classifies liquid meals as "drinks" rather than "meals", which would have dropped the brand from an A to an E despite an unchanged nutritional profile (500 kcal, 26 vitamins and minerals). Yfood chose to drop the label rather than display a score it considers unrepresentative.

Can you drink Yfood every day?

Yfood is designed to replace one or two meals a day occasionally (a rushed breakfast or lunch), not your entire diet long-term. Drinking 1-2 bottles daily is compatible with a balanced diet, provided you keep varied solid meals the rest of the day.

Are the 10-20% Yfood codes advertised on coupon sites real?

There's no permanent, universal Yfood discount code: sites advertising flat 10-20% discounts are usually recycling old creator codes that are expired or limited-use. The only reliable, verifiable mechanism is the referral programme (€10 off for both referrer and friend, personal link, min. €35 order); some content creators also occasionally share their own personal code (around -10%), not guaranteed long-term.
