Honey Referral Code 2026: 500 Points (~$5) at Sign-up

Installing Honey takes under 2 minutes. Go to the Chrome Web Store (or the Firefox/Edge equivalent), search "Honey" or click our referral link, which redirects you there. Click "Add extension", accept the permissions, then create a free account or sign in with your PayPal account. A Honey icon appears in your toolbar. As soon as you are on a compatible merchant site, Honey activates and automatically tests available promo codes.

Signing up via a referral link gives you 500 PayPal Rewards points (formerly "Honey Gold") after your first eligible purchase with Honey — a bonus Honey sometimes removes depending on the current offer. Since the Honey Gold → PayPal Rewards rebrand, the rate is 100 points = $1, so 500 points are worth about $5, not the ~$0.50 of the old programme. These add to the cash back you earn on purchases. Note: rewards and redemption are mostly US-focused — outside the US, Honey is used mainly to test promo codes at checkout.

Accumulated PayPal Rewards points are redeemable from your dashboard for gift cards (Amazon, Walmart, Target, etc.) or as checkout credit with PayPal (US). Since August 1, 2026, PayPal removed cash-back-to-balance redemption. Points show as pending for 1–14 days and confirm within ~90 days; they do not expire while your account is active.

Honey is compatible with many major international and local sites: Amazon, Zalando, Booking, Nike, ASOS, and thousands more. Coverage is strongest on English-language (especially US) e-commerce. Honey automatically tests the codes in its database at checkout — if no active code exists for a site, the extension tells you. Honey Gold cashback is not available on every site: a green badge indicates sites where you can earn it.

PayPal Honey does not use an alphanumeric code entered at sign-up. The referral offer activates via a clickable welcome link. The "promo codes" Honey finds automatically on merchant sites are a different feature: the extension itself tests codes at checkout. So "Honey promo code" and "Honey referral" mean two distinct things — the referral is about your sign-up, the promo codes about your purchases.

Beyond automatic promo codes, Honey offers two useful features. The Droplist lets you add products to watch: Honey notifies you when the price drops, ideal for waiting for the right moment to buy. Price tracking (a historical chart) shows whether the current price is really at its lowest or whether the seller inflated it before a "sale". Honey is a free extension that is genuinely useful for automating coupon searches — its key strength is zero effort at checkout. But the picture darkened. In late 2024, creator MegaLag's investigation triggered a wave of lawsuits: Honey allegedly replaced content creators' affiliate cookies with its own to capture their commissions — even when no coupon was applied — and favoured its partner merchants' deals over the best available code. More than 25 cases were consolidated in California as *In re PayPal Honey Browser Extension Litigation*. After a first dismissal without prejudice in November 2025, plaintiffs filed an amended complaint (January 2026) describing a "secret tab" mechanism; in 2026 the case was not thrown out and is proceeding, with no settlement to date. PayPal disputes the claims. For the end user, the extension stays free and functional — but this context is worth knowing.

Founded in 2012 in Los Angeles by Ryan Hudson and George Ruan, Honey was acquired by PayPal in January 2020 for $4 billion. Rewards are now merged into PayPal Rewards. For French-euro cash back, iGraal and Poulpeo are alternatives to explore.
