Sorare is a French startup founded in 2018 in Paris by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort. The framework has changed since the 2023 standoff, when France's gaming authority (ANJ) challenged the status of tradable cards. The SREN law of 21 May 2024 created the JONUM regime (games with monetisable digital objects), a three-year experiment — until May 2027 — overseen by the ANJ. Decree no. 2026-60 of 4 February 2026 launched the operational phase, and Sorare obtained its JONUM registration with the ANJ in spring 2026.

Practical consequences for French players: since 4 May 2026, identity verification is mandatory (KYC via Mangopay, to be completed within 30 days) and spending limits must be set to access Sorare Pro. With the tournament over, attention now shifts to the 2026-27 club season and the summer transfer window: cards of players who shone at the World Cup remain in high demand on the secondary market. Big tournaments give Sorare a lasting activity boost, and the referral programme (50% off up to $50 in credits) is still the cheapest way to start on the primary market.

Let's be clear: the "Sorare promo codes" listed by coupon sites are fake. Aggregators advertise "50% Off" or codes like "VV4U1J" when Sorare sells nothing at a discount — the "Add a code" field at sign-up is for invitation and campaign codes, not price cuts.
