Prime Video promo code: what actually exists
There is no Amazon Prime Video promo code. No discount-code field appears at sign-up: the checkout screen only offers a plan choice and a payment method.
Yet the first page of Google is full of "-40%", "3 active codes", "€5.99 off". We checked those results on 23 July 2026: they are auto-generated pages with no real code behind them.
The genuine ways to pay less:
- The 30-day free trial for new subscribers — applied automatically, no code needed.
- The 18-24 offer: Amazon Prime at half price (€3.49/month or €34.95/year) with a 90-day trial.
- Carrier partnerships: Prime is sometimes bundled into a fibre or mobile plan.
- Stream Free: a collection of free, ad-supported content with no subscription at all.
Two distinctions that are constantly muddled:
- Amazon vouchers ("€5 off €20" and the like) apply to store orders, never to the subscription.
- Amazon gift cards, on the other hand, genuinely can pay for the subscription: top up your account balance and pick "Amazon balance" as the payment method. Note this does not reduce the price — it only changes who pays.
Amazon promo codes vs Prime Video promo codes
This single confusion explains almost every "Prime Video code" you will find online: the Amazon store and the Prime Video subscription do not work the same way.
| Amazon store (amazon.fr) | Prime Video subscription | |
|---|---|---|
| Promo codes | Yes, occasional, on products or categories | No, there is no entry field |
| Vouchers | Yes ("€5 off €20" and similar) | No |
| What it discounts | The price of an order | Nothing: the subscription stays at €6.99/month |
When a coupon site advertises "-25% with code XXX", it is almost always a store discount on a physical product. That code may well work — but it will never lower your Prime Video subscription price.
The clearest example: Amazon runs a dedicated store page called "Prime Video €5 voucher", which itself ranks in Google's top 10 for "code promo Amazon Prime Video". It is a store credit, granted during occasional campaigns (Amazon has previously offered €5 off a €20 order in exchange for watching a Prime Video title). That is a retail operation, not a subscription discount — and it is not permanent.
The takeaway: to pay less for Prime Video, codes are not the place to look. The three real levers are covered below — the 30-day trial, the 18-24 offer and carrier bundles. To split a subscription with others, see Spliiit; for another Amazon service with a genuine free trial, see Audible.
The "€5.99 standalone Prime Video plan" does not exist in France
This is the single most common error across French comparison sites, and it is worth its own section.
Many of them advertise a standalone Prime Video plan at €5.99/month. We checked the official primevideo.com offers page on 23 July 2026: it offers exactly one thing — a 30-day free trial, then Amazon Prime at €6.99/month or €69.90/year. No standalone Prime Video plan appears.
So where does the €5.99 come from? From a real price — one that expired four years ago. Until 15 September 2022, Amazon Prime cost exactly €5.99/month and €49.90/year in France. On that date Amazon raised it to €6.99/month and €69.90/year, citing rising logistics costs. Coupon pages still quoting "€5.99" were simply never updated: they are not describing a standalone Prime Video plan, they are copying the old Amazon Prime price.
| Before 15 September 2022 | Since | |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime monthly | €5.99/month | €6.99/month |
| Amazon Prime annual | €49.90/year | €69.90/year |
Worth noting: a standalone Prime Video subscription does exist in the United States, at $8.99/month. It has never been offered in France, and in any case it is not the figure French comparison sites are quoting.
Practical consequence: the entry price for Prime Video in France is €6.99/month, not €5.99. If a site promises less, it is quoting a price that no longer exists.
Prices and plans (checked 23 July 2026)
Prices taken from Amazon's official pages on 23 July 2026 (French market):
| Plan | Price | What it includes |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Prime monthly | €6.99/month | Prime Video + Express delivery + Prime Music + Prime Reading |
| Amazon Prime annual | €69.90/year | Same, i.e. €5.83/month (two months free) |
| Prime 18-24 monthly | €3.49/month | Same benefits, half price |
| Prime 18-24 annual | €34.95/year | Same, i.e. €2.91/month |
| Ad-free option | +€1.99/month | Add-on to any plan |
| Stream Free | €0 | Limited, ad-supported, no subscription |
The calculation that matters. The annual plan at €69.90 works out at €5.83/month: it pays off once you stay subscribed more than 10 months. And if you want it ad-free, budget €8.98/month on the monthly plan — more than most coupon sites quote as the base price.
For an 18-24 subscriber on the annual plan, Prime costs €2.91/month, by far the best value in streaming.

The 30-day free trial: real conditions
The official offer, re-confirmed on the primevideo.com offers page on 23 July 2026, is a 30-day free trial.
To activate it: go to primevideo.com, click "Start your free trial", create or sign into an Amazon account, and add a payment method. Streaming starts immediately on smart TVs, set-top boxes, consoles, mobiles, tablets and browsers.
The conditions:
- Reserved for new subscribers who have never had Amazon Prime.
- One trial per Amazon account (tied to the email address).
- A payment method is required up front, and billing starts automatically on day 31.
- Cancel any time, free of charge, from your account.
A clarification: contrary to what some sites claim, there is no 60-day trial for existing Prime members — a Prime member already has Prime Video and has no trial to activate. The only longer trial is the 90-day one for 18-24s.
The 18-24 offer: the real bargain
Since June 2025, Amazon has offered "Prime for students and 18-24 year-olds" — the exact name matters, because the old "Prime Student" branding still circulates everywhere even though the offer has widened.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Eligibility | 18 to 24, students or already working |
| Price | €3.49/month or €34.95/year (half price) |
| Free trial | 90 days |
| Proof required (18-24 route) | Photo ID: national ID card, driving licence or passport |
| Duration | Until you turn 25 on the 18-24 route; up to 4 years for higher-education students |
| Sharing | Not shareable within the household |
The key point: you no longer need to be a student. Being 18-24 is enough, and a simple photo ID serves as proof — not a student card. Students enrolled in higher education in France or Belgium remain eligible beyond 24 with proof of enrolment.
Watch the duration, which is widely misunderstood: if you sign up at 23 via the "18-24" route, the reduced price stops when you turn 25, not after 4 years. The 4-year cap applies to the student route.
Note: a "6-month trial for 18-24s" circulates on some sites — that is wrong. Amazon's official communication says 3 months.
Ads on Prime Video: since when, and how to remove them
Amazon switched ads on by default on Prime Video in France on 9 April 2024. Every subscriber, including those already paying, got ad breaks with no change in price.
To remove them, add the "ad-free" option at €1.99/month from your Amazon account settings.
The true cost of ad-free Prime Video, as of 23 July 2026:
| Plan | With ads | Ad-free |
|---|---|---|
| Prime monthly | €6.99/month | €8.98/month |
| Prime annual | €5.83/month | €7.82/month |
| Prime 18-24 annual | €2.91/month | €4.90/month |
In other words, going ad-free makes the monthly plan 28% more expensive. It is the main criticism levelled at the service since 2024.
The catalogue and 2026 highlights
Prime Video gives access to roughly 11,000 films, series and documentaries included in the subscription (estimate from specialist comparison sites, June 2026 — Amazon publishes no official figure). Be wary of the "24,000 titles" quoted elsewhere: that number mixes the included catalogue with rental and purchase content.
The 2026 highlights:
- The Boys, season 5: the final season of Amazon's flagship series.
- Spider-Noir with Nicolas Cage.
- Young Sherlock, Guy Ritchie's series, released 4 March 2026.
- Cross, season 2 (11 February 2026) and Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
- Roland-Garros 2026: evening sessions streamed exclusively on Prime Video from 24 May to 3 June 2026.
The service also carries paid add-on channels (Paramount+, Universal+ and others), billed on top and often mistaken for part of the base subscription.
Prime Video vs Netflix vs Canal+
| Criterion | Prime Video | Netflix Standard | Canal+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entry price | €6.99/month (Prime included) | ~€13.99 | ~€22 |
| Real ad-free price | €8.98/month | Ad-free standard | Ad-free |
| Included catalogue | ~11,000 titles | ~17,000 titles | Recent films + sport |
| Exclusives | The Boys, Reacher, Fallout | Stranger Things, Squid Game | Sport, recent cinema |
| Max quality | 4K HDR, Dolby Atmos | 4K HDR | 4K |
| Free trial | 30 days | No | Variable |
| Extras | Delivery, Music, Reading | None | Included channels |
Prime Video wins on price — provided you count something comparisons forget: at €6.99/month you are not only buying streaming, but unlimited Express delivery, Prime Music and Prime Reading. Order from Amazon even twice a month and the streaming is effectively free.
Netflix keeps the catalogue edge. Canal+ only really competes on sport and recent cinema. To share several services, look at Spliiit or GamsGo.
When are the best Prime Video offers?
Three periods concentrate the opportunities — but one stubborn myth needs killing first.
Prime Day is no longer in July. The 2026 edition ran from Tuesday 23 June to Friday 26 June, over four days. Amazon moved it earlier to avoid a crowded July. Any site announcing a "Prime Day July 2026" is wrong: it has already happened.
- Prime Day (June): the one moment in the year when Amazon genuinely discounts the subscription. In 2026 the offer was Amazon Prime at €6.99 for 3 months — three months for the price of one — reserved for new members and anyone who had not been one for at least 12 months, to be activated before 26 June 2026, 11:59pm. After the 3 months it reverts to the standard price (€6.99/month or €69.90/year). That offer is now closed.
- Black Friday (November): occasional discounts on annual plans and add-on channels.
- Back-to-school (August-September): the period when the 18-24 offer gets the most promotion.
Our advice: if you are 18-24, do not wait for any promotion — the half-price offer with a 90-day trial (€2.91/month annually) still beats Prime Day's €6.99 for 3 months. For everyone else, the next date to watch is Prime Day in June 2027; until then, the 30-day free trial is the only real lever.
Our verdict on Amazon Prime Video in 2026
Prime Video is the best value in streaming — as long as you understand what you are buying.
Strengths: €6.99/month that includes far more than streaming (Express delivery, Music, Reading), 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos at no extra cost, a 30-day free trial, solid exclusives, and an 18-24 offer at €2.91/month annually that nothing else matches.
Weaknesses: ads by default since April 2024, forcing €1.99/month more to get back what you used to have; an included catalogue (~11,000 titles) narrower than Netflix's; and an interface that constantly blends included content, rentals and paid channels.
Who is it for? Regular Amazon customers — for them the streaming is a near-free bonus. And 18-24s, without hesitation.
Who is it not for? Anyone who wants streaming only and never orders from Amazon: paying €6.99 (or €8.98 ad-free) for a smaller catalogue than Netflix is a questionable call. And to repeat: there is no standalone Prime Video plan in France, whatever the comparison sites say.
Frequently asked questions
Does Prime Video have a promo code?
No. There is no discount-code field at sign-up, and Amazon gift vouchers do not apply to subscriptions. The "-40%" and "3 active codes" on coupon sites are auto-generated with no real code behind them. The genuine offers are the 30-day free trial, the half-price 18-24 plan, and carrier bundles.
Where can I find Amazon Prime Video promo codes?
Nowhere, and that is expected: Amazon issues no discount code for the Prime Video subscription, and there is no field to enter one. Sites advertising "3 active codes" or "-40%" are actually listing Amazon store discounts, valid on products, not on the subscription. The only real savings are the 30-day free trial, the 18-24 offer at €3.49/month, and carrier plans that bundle Prime.
Is there a free trial code for Amazon Prime?
No code is needed. The 30-day free trial is applied automatically when you sign up at primevideo.com or amazon.fr — you choose "Start your free trial", sign into or create an Amazon account, and add a payment method. Any site selling a "free trial code" is describing something that does not exist. The trial is limited to one per Amazon account and to people who have never subscribed to Amazon Prime.
Can I use an Amazon voucher on my Prime Video subscription?
No. Amazon vouchers (such as "€5 off €20") attach to your account and are deducted automatically from a store order that meets the threshold, on items sold and shipped by Amazon. They never apply to the subscription. Amazon gift cards are different: you can top up your account balance and pay for Amazon Prime with it, but that changes the payment method rather than the price.
Is there a standalone Prime Video subscription in France?
No. The official primevideo.com offers page (checked 17 July 2026) only sells full Amazon Prime at €6.99/month or €69.90/year. The €5.99 (or €3.99) standalone plan advertised by many French comparison sites does not exist — it is a confusion with the United States, where standalone Prime Video costs $8.99/month.
How long is the Prime Video free trial?
30 days for new subscribers. It starts immediately, requires a payment method up front, and bills automatically on day 31. One trial per Amazon account, tied to the email address, and you can cancel any time for free.
Is there a 60-day trial for Prime members?
No, that trial does not exist. An Amazon Prime member already has Prime Video and has no trial to activate. The standard trial is 30 days for new subscribers, and the only longer one is the 90-day trial attached to the 18-24 offer.
How much does Prime Video cost?
It comes with Amazon Prime: €6.99/month or €69.90/year (€5.83/month), which also includes unlimited Express delivery, Prime Music and Prime Reading. The ad-free option adds €1.99/month, taking the monthly plan to €8.98. Subscribers aged 18-24 pay half price: €3.49/month or €34.95/year.
How do I get Prime Video half price?
Through "Prime for students and 18-24s": €3.49/month or €34.95/year, with a 90-day free trial and a maximum duration of 4 years. Since June 2025 you no longer need to be a student — being aged 18 to 24 is enough. Higher-education students stay eligible beyond 24 with proof of enrolment.
How do I remove ads from Prime Video?
Add the ad-free option at €1.99/month in your Amazon account settings. Ads were switched on by default in France on 9 April 2024, with no price change for existing subscribers. Ad-free, the monthly plan costs €8.98 and the annual works out at €7.82/month.
Can I watch Prime Video for free?
Two ways. The 30-day free trial gives new subscribers full access (one per Amazon account, payment method required, cancel any time). And the "Stream Free" collection on primevideo.com offers ad-supported films and series with no subscription and no card at all.
What can I watch on Prime Video?
Roughly 11,000 films, series and documentaries are included — beware the "24,000 titles" figure, which mixes in rentals and purchases. Amazon Originals include The Boys, Reacher, Fallout, Rings of Power and Citadel, with 2026 bringing The Boys season 5, Spider-Noir and Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock. Paid add-on channels are billed separately.
Is Prime Video better value than Netflix?
On price, yes: €6.99/month also buys Express delivery, Prime Music and Prime Reading, against roughly €13.99 for Netflix Standard — and it comes with a 30-day trial Netflix does not offer. On catalogue, Netflix leads with about 17,000 titles against 11,000 included on Prime Video.
