HP Instant Ink activates from the HP Smart app (iOS/Android) or directly on your compatible printer's panel. Once subscribed, the printer automatically sends an alert to HP when your ink runs low — cartridges arrive by post before you run out. The subscription is commitment-free and cancellable at any time from your HP Connected account.

HP Instant Ink offers 5 monthly plans by print volume. 10 pages: €1.79/month. 50 pages: €5.99/month. 100 pages: €7.99/month. 300 pages: €15.99/month. 700 pages: €31.99/month. Unused pages roll over to the next month (up to 2× the plan). If you exceed your plan, extra pages are billed per unit by plan.

HP Instant Ink is worthwhile if you print regularly each month. For a user printing 50-100 pages/month, the €7.99 plan works out to €0.08/page — 3 to 5 times cheaper than standard cartridges. However, for an occasional printer (under 20 pages/month), buying compatible cartridges remains cheaper than a minimum monthly subscription.
