HomeExchange Promo Code 2026: 250 GuestPoints + 1,300 Welcome GP

HomeExchange is a home-swapping platform between individuals worldwide. The principle: you list your home (apartment, house, villa), and in exchange you can stay in another member's home, without paying for a hotel night.

Two swap modes exist:

Simultaneous swap: you stay in another member's home while they stay in yours — both stays happen at the same time. It's the simplest mode, and GuestPoints aren't used in this case.

Non-simultaneous swap (via GuestPoints): you stay in another member's home without a simultaneous exchange. You spend GuestPoints to pay for your stay, and you earn them by hosting members in your home. It's the most flexible mode, especially for homes or destinations with different seasons.

For travellers who prefer classic accommodation without offering their own home, Airbnb remains the best-known alternative.

The HomeExchange referral programme (official, verified 15 July 2026) works in two steps, for both sides:

For the referee: 250 GuestPoints in total — 100 GuestPoints when the home listing is completed + 150 GuestPoints at activation of the €175 membership. Nothing is paid at simple sign-up: it's the completed listing and then the paid membership that trigger the bonuses.

For the referrer: 250 GuestPoints — 50 when the referee completes their listing + 200 when they activate their membership. The programme is capped at 10 referees (2,500 GuestPoints maximum).

Concrete GuestPoint value: budget 100 to 150 GuestPoints per night for a standard home — the homes that receive the most inquiries are below 100 GP per night. The 250 referral GuestPoints are therefore worth about 2 nights, and they stack with the 1,300 welcome GuestPoints (800 + 500) granted to every new member: a referee starts with 1,550 GP, roughly a week-long stay.

⚠️ Some sites still advertise "650" or even "1,000 GuestPoints": that was a boosted offer valid only from 11 to 31 January 2026, now expired.

Prices recorded on 15 July 2026 on homeexchange.com: standard membership €175/year (3-instalment payment available for an €8 service fee), HomeExchange Collection €1,275/year (premium properties, dedicated 24/7 line). Break-even: a family exchanging 7 nights a year brings its accommodation cost down to €25/night (€175 ÷ 7), versus €120-250/night for a comparable holiday rental — the membership is amortised from the first week-long stay.

GuestPoints are HomeExchange's internal currency, used for non-simultaneous swaps. Each home listed on the platform has a "GuestPoints price" per night, set automatically by location, size, amenities and demand — budget 100 to 150 GuestPoints per night; the homes that receive the most inquiries are below 100 GP/night. Owners can adjust the rate up to +30 GP above the recommendation.

How to earn GuestPoints: by hosting members in your home (you receive GuestPoints for each night of hosting), via the welcome bonus (1,300 GP), via referral (250 GP), or by buying additional GuestPoint packs on the site.

How to spend GuestPoints: by requesting a non-simultaneous stay in another member's home. You "pay" in GuestPoints, deducted from your balance. HomeExchange's own example: with the 1,300 welcome GuestPoints, "you can enjoy a 7 or 8-night stay".

Simultaneous swaps require no GuestPoints — it's the most economical mode for members with an attractive home in a tourist destination. For a specific destination, check the availability of local homes on the HomeExchange map before subscribing.

The three HomeExchange saving mechanisms serve different purposes:

The promo code applies to the annual membership price (€175) — a direct cash reduction on the fee, entered at membership payment. HomeExchange only releases codes occasionally (newsletter, webinars, special operations): beware of sites promising permanent "-30%" or "-58%" codes, no such public code exists. A promo code is neither combinable with the 3-instalment payment nor valid on renewals.

The referral code grants access to bonus GuestPoints (250 for the referee, 250 for the referrer). These don't reduce the membership but offer "free nights" in other homes — they have value for future travel, not immediate savings on the membership.

GuestPoints earned by hosting are the result of your activity on the platform — you earn GuestPoints each time you host a member. The more in-demand your home, the more you accumulate, and the more you can travel for free in other destinations.

HomeExchange is unbeatable for owners of a well-located home who travel regularly and can offer nights in exchange. The marginal cost of each trip is near zero after the membership.

The HomeExchange promo code is valid once per account and applies only to a new membership. It can't be applied to an existing membership renewal or to an already-active account, and it is not combinable with the 3-instalment payment (which adds an €8 service fee).

The referral code must be entered when creating the account — it can't be added retroactively to an existing account. No GuestPoints are granted at simple sign-up: the bonuses trigger when the home listing is completed, then when the €175 membership is activated.

HomeExchange reserves the right to deactivate promo codes without notice. Sharing referral codes on social media or in Facebook groups is explicitly prohibited by HomeExchange — the offer won't be applied if your code is detected as massively distributed.

HomeExchange was founded in 1992 in the United States — well before the internet and online booking platforms. Originally, swaps were coordinated by post and phone through printed member directories.
